Overview
Learn how a garment is made from pattern drafting, cutting and sewing. With the basic knowledge in drafting and sewing, you can progress to making patterns and sewing. This course covers basic threading of the industrial sewing machine and sewing techniques. Funding Period: 1st March 2021 to end Feb 2024

Objectives
Identify the pattern pieces, sewing operations, and sequences required to construct the garment.
Interpret draft, cut, and sew a basic tee and pull-on shorts based on a given size specs using basic pattern block with manipulation methods.
Understand how basic garment construction relates to pattern development, grading, marker development, and mass production.
Use the various stitch types such as lock stitch, overlock stitch, and cover stitch.

Drafting procedures of basic pattern blocks.
Development process from paper patterns to finished garments.
Techniques in using sewing machines for various operations
Types of interfacing.
Industry terminology interpretations.
Build in fabric retraction and shrinkage into stock production pattern.
Certificate Issuance
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be awarded a TaF.tc Certificate in Drafting and Sewing: Casual Knits
To enrol, you must fulfil the following requirements

Aged 16 years and above
and
2
GCE ‘O’ Level with 3 credits including English and Mathematics OR WSQ Advanced Certificate in Fashion Technology OR TaFtc's Advanced Certificate OR WSQ ES WPLN Level 5 and above
and
3
ALL Students are required to have basic knowledge of computer and Microsoft Office
Graduation
To graduate, you must fulfil the following requirements
1
75% attendance rate of total training hours per module
and
2
Be found competent for written, practical and oral assessments
International Students
To enrol, you must fulfil the following requirements
1
Aged 16 years and above
and
2
High School Diploma equivalent to GCE ‘O’ Level with 3 credits including English and Mathematics OR Qualifications from professional institutes may be considered on a case-by-case basic OR Pass TaF.tc Entrance Test
and

English Language Requirement – Possess a minimum credit in English at GCE ‘O’ Level or its equivalent OR IELTS score 4.5 or TOEFL score 75
and

ALL Students are required to have basic knowledge of computer and Microsoft Office
Graduation
To enrol, you must fulfil the following requirements

75% attendance rate of total training hours per module. Student Pass Holders – a minimum of 90% attendance per month will be required.

Be found competent for written, practical and oral assessments
You will need a laptop OR computer OR tablet, whichever you prefer, for viewing your E-books
Devices need to have a working camera and a microphone.

Your TaF.tc Sewing Tool Kit - Drafting and sewing tools will be provided in class. Do take note that the learning tools are for class usage. Kindly return them after class ends.

We highly discourage you from missing any classes since the entire program is designed to be hands-on intensive. There is also a minimum attendance requirement of 75% of training hours for Singaporean and PRs, and 90% of training hours for international students. If you do not meet the 75% attendance requirement, you will not be eligible to enjoy subsidies nor to sit for the assessment. Make sure you block off your time during your training with us or find an intake option that will ensure you do not miss any classes. You will only wish that you had more time in the class!
